ABOUT THE BOOK

The book plays the role of a historical document for Pakistan political leadership, planning experts, the high ups of national security and student of history. The author has highlighted the development aspects of CPEC and all the related events which glaringly reveal the favoritism, opacity, negligence and regional likes and dislikes in planning and resource distribution of the country by political elites in corridor of power.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Saleem Safi was born in District Mardan of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. He did his Bachelors from the University of Peshawar. After his graduation, he started his creer as a reporter for NNI (News Network International) in Mardan. Based on his exceptional journalistic performance, Safi was appointed the Bureau Chief of NNI in the provincial capital-Peshawar. As Bureau Chief, he covered the entire KP province, erstwhile FATA, and Afghanistan. He rose to salience as youngest reporter, columnist, political and security analyst. During 2000-2008, Safi’s columns published in Daily Mashriq, Daily Aaj, and Daily Pakistan. his views and analyses were widely read and appreciated for his incisive analysis and bringing facts to fore in the context of pre-and post-9/11 scenario. His main areas of interest include Pakistani politics, foreign policy, security and strategic issues, tribal areas and Afghanistan, and religio-social issues. In 2004, his first book published titled “Afghanistan: The Role of US, Taliban and Pakistani Religious Parties.” The book received widespread acclaim and appreciation. Safi joined electronic media following the media boom in Pakistan. he hosted his own prime time Pahsto talk show, Jirga from PTV Peshawar from 2002 to 2004. From 2005 to 2008, he hosted a talk show on PTV World Islamabad, Saleem Safi Kay Saath. From 2007 to 2008, he also hosted a talk show, Siyasat in Pashto language on Khyber TV. In 2008, he joined Pakistan largest private media group, Jang and Geo TV as an anchor, columnist, and analyst. He is currently hosting a show with the name of Jirga, and writes in the News and Jang with the same name. Safi’s talk shows and documentaries are widely seen across the country. He has conducted hard hitting interviews of many national and international leaders and stakeholders in the region such as Nawaz Sharif, Perverz Musharraf, Asif Ali Zardari, Hamid Karzai, Fazal-ur-Rehman, Gulbadin Hikmatyar, Burhanuddin Rabbani, Abdullah Abdullah and other political, religious and jihadi leaders. Safi’s other published books (Urdu) include, “CPEC: aik naya siyasi, maashi awr tazweerati khail,”, “Awr tabdeeli laayee gayee…”; “Mutabadel bayania”; “Nawaz Sharif: attock sai adyala tak.”
