ABOUT THE BOOK
The concept of Jihad has been the subject of vigorous academic writings since deadly attacks of September 11. Literature on Jihad in most cases suggests that the phenomenon has been misunderstood and distorted. The self-declared jihadi organizations, or non-State Islamic actors, have abused the doctrine of jihad. The perception about Jihad of a common man is mainly shaped by the actions of jihadi organizations such as al-Qa’ida, Daish and Boko Haram etc. the principles of Islamic Law play a less significant role in the making of perception of a lay man. This work is a serious attempt to thoroughly discuss the causes of was in Islam, the authority of a Muslim state to declare Jihad, the illegality of private Jihad, the insistence to protect lives and properties of the non-combatants, and the rights of the prisoners of war under Islamic Law. The book also mentions key postulates of Islamic Law regarding terrorism and counter terrorism legislation.
